Its been some time since I used a Fedora Box, but can;t you just go to
"Add/Remove Software" and install gcc .
Or better yet, just do :
#yum install gcc
similar to :
$sudo apt-get install gcc
I think it should be possible.
The OP doesn't seem to must worried about persistency, so I don't think
that's an issue.
